Hi All,
This year I seem to be wondering if fall has arrived early? As I notice touches of color in the trees I wonder where my summer has gone. My mother used to say, “the older you get the faster the days go by.” So, with that as my perspective I will blame it on age. ;)

As I prepared to write this newsletter I took time to look through photos from my summer. Each photograph made me smile and feel grateful for; my art making, time teaching and making art with others, meeting new people and for the time catching up with very, very old friends.

If you felt your summer went to fast. I encourage you to look at your pictures. Pause. Reflect. Remember...and smile. Celebrate the moments, the people and feelings and importantly...the challenges tackled and the laughter shared.

So, with your permission, here are some of the pictures that captured my summer moments. One of my greatest realizations is that there has been lots and lots of art!

Bellaire Drawing Group ~ Bellaire, MI

I have been attending the Bellaire Drawing Group in Bellaire, MI. This is the brainchild of watercolorist, Mary Guntziller. The group meets every Tuesday at M88 Morning Grind at 9:30.
I am appreciating the opportunity to get feedback from other artists as well as seeing what they are doing. There is no structure or plan. We just show up with materials and play.

If you are in the area and interested in learning how to draw or reconnect with your creative drawing side come and join us!

Artzmaker Studio ~ Williamsburg, MI

Several people came for individual art making sessions. You are always welcome to check Artzmaker Studio on

my website to see what kinds of classes are available. I welcome both individual or small group lessons in this wonderful space.

Northport Methodist Indian Church

Another new experience for me this summer was making art with the kids from the Northport Methodist Indian Church. I spent three days working with them during the church’s summer camp revival.

The Oliver Center Art Center ~ Frankfort MI

I submitted work to two shows at the Center. Two pieces hung in the Members Show and, just recently, I had a piece accepted into the Mixed Media Juried Show. If you have a chance I encourage you to visit. The work is quite eclectic!

The Oliver Artists Critique Group, that meets monthly, is in the process of writing a proposal for a group show that will happen next year. As things move forward, I will keep you posted. Again... a great group of supportive artists to share your work with.

Looking Forward....

And Finally…

In May I ordered a kayak from a small company in Winona, Minnesota. We finally picked it up at the end of August, I have jumped at every opportunity to paddle. She is quite a beauty.

Several other trips... took us North into the Upper Peninsula. The first was to catch up with high school friends in Manistique. The others took us into the Copper Country and Munising where we paddled on Lake Superior.

Most recently, my partner Larry and I paddled in the 10th Annual Antrim Paddle Festival. We now know the Chain Of Lakes flow through Antrim County. The weather held, my new kayak was a dream and our arms held up over the two days we paddled the 42 miles . What an experience!

So...after revisiting my photos, artwork and memories of this summer, I agree with my Mom’s wise words and would add...”but, oh, can they be wonderful when filled with the people and the places and the activities you love.”
